33 York Street, Sydney

33 York Street involved the partial transformation of a commercial building prominently situated in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. To do this Genton reimagined the lobby interior and ground-level facade based on its connection to the street.

Externally the building expressed itself via the use of folded-steel-clad columns, a contemporary interpretation of the building as it was originally designed. The dark folded steel awning protrudes boldly from the façade, announcing the building’s presence.

Internally Genton gave the space more circulation, through the use of light coloured natural stone contrasted against dark folded steel. The end result was a bold and beautiful commercial space befitting its prominent CBD location.
